Repopulated mussel
We take from the sea, but not without giving something back. The mussels we use are cultivated in a way that actively improves the environment they live in. They require neither feed, fresh water, nor antibiotics. They feed on plankton that has absorbed nitrogen and phosphorus, nutrients that in excessive amounts cause algal blooms and eutrophication. When the mussels are harvested, the excess nutrients are removed from the sea. In this way, mussel farming helps to curb eutrophication and keep the ocean in balance.
